I go through phases when life is stressful and I look for a good book to read in addition to reading “The Good Book.”
Last week, I read two novels, which is a lot for me. One, I powered through because I lost track of it, so it was overdue from a library half an hour away. Melanie Dobson wrote Catching the Wind, a historical novel. I had a hard time putting it down. It was published by Tyndale House, Inc., Carol Stream, IL and copyrighted in 2017 by Melanie Dobson.
The time frame encompassed Hitler’s reign to the present day. Good versus evil with shades of gray in decision-making. Selfishness and selflessness shown in children, parents, caregivers, socialites, patriots and those committing treason. Both authors, Melanie Dobson, and Kristen Heitzmann, who wrote Indivisible put twists in their books I never anticipated. The second book was published by WATERBROOK PRESS, Colorado Springs, CO and copyrighted by Kristen Heitzmann in 2010, which I enjoyed.
Sunday night before bed I grabbed an 11”x 15” piece of paper to write out a weekly schedule. I had read another book over the weekend, number two in the Redford Series by Kristen Heitzmann, entitled Indelible. This tome’s story line totally caught me off guard. I wanted to read her next novel. Yet, I’m tired of not getting to things that need to get done.
So, before sleeping I asked God to wake me up at 7:30 a.m. He did just that! I decided to write later, but I wanted to jot down these thoughts first thing in the day.
What sent my stress in another direction? The Word of God, prayer, and some time to unwind and relax with a good book helped. Then, on Monday, I worked through my to-do-list and my brain released endorphins. Feeling good and praising God for His faithfulness chased stress away.
Reading the last few chapters of the Psalms always makes me want to praise. How about you?
