I have written many blogs over the past weeks. You wouldn’t know it if you happen to try and read them at Connieabuckley.com. They’re not online.
I’ve felt an urgency to blog, but, oh the excuses. On Thursday, my husband and I went to Bible study. A younger fellow who’s really studying the Word of God asked if I was familiar with a verse, “Be sober, be vigilant because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour,” (1 Peter 5:8, KJV). He didn’t use the King James English. 😊
Tonight, I listened to Jonathan Cahn speak about the enemy of our soul, the deceiver. He explained that Satan or his demons are considered similar to a snake or a dragon. He said there are occult worshippers all over the world who worship various kinds of serpents.
As he continued his preaching, one thing he said struck home. God’s enemy tries to get people distracted so they stop reading their Bible, or skip going to church, or start flirting with temptations that will lead to ruin. I’m paraphrasing.
But it reminded me that a few weeks ago, amid lots of hustle and bustle, I was slacking reading my Bible. Suddenly, it wasn’t appealing. I had to remind myself that I really enjoy reading the Bible because it helps me to know God better. If it’s not uplifting, I get to ponder the particulars in the verses. I think of it as spiritual food.
I found time to watch football and baseball games, political talk shows, sports’ analysis presentations, food challenges on YouTube, and how to clean the house videos. I did housework, made decisions in my planner, saw a variety of doctors, read novels, etc.
It never occurred to me that the supernatural was involved. I kept thinking God wants me to blog, yet I decided not to type at night since blue light will wake me up. Other times, I’d think, Let me just put in a load of laundry. Then, I’d get something to eat, or some other distraction came up.
Not everyone thinks there’s a supernatural conspiracy against humankind by an evil being. All I know is, if I really believed God wants me to blog, then I needed to act on it. Just coincidence that I spoke to that studious follower of Christ? Just happenstance that I watched Jonathan Cahn’s video of a sermon on the demonic: “Nahash: The Secret of Overcoming the Serpent in Your Life” from October 25, 2024 on YouTube?
I hope this finds you well! Maybe with Halloween just past, you might consider there are opposing supernatural beings impacting our lives according to our free will and our choices. That is, if right now you don’t believe in a spiritual reality.
Some Scriptures that help me out in life follow. An introduction to part of Proverbs says, Wisdom cries out. In (Proverbs 1:33, NKJV), it instructs: “But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil.”
Psalm 91 is filled with God’s promises: (Psalm 91:1, NKJV) He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
(Psalm 91:2) I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
(Psalm 91:3) Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.
(Psalm 91:4) He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
(Psalm 91:5) You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
(Psalm 91:6) Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
(Psalm 91:7) A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.
(Psalm 91:8) Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.
(Psalm 91:9) Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
(Psalm 91:10) No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
(Psalm 91:11) For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.
(Psalm 91:12) In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
(Psalm 91:13) You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
(Psalm 91:14) “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
(Psalm 91:15) He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
(Psalm 91:16) With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”
Take care and may God bless you.
